Adjunct, Sign Language

Location: Hickory, North Carolina

Lenoir-Rhyne University’s College of Education & Human Services seeks applications for part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach American Sign Language I and II courses. Courses will be taught face to face or in an online synchronous modality. Appointment begins January 2025.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Successful candidates should have a minimum of a master’s degree in ASL or a related field or a bachelor’s degree and national certification in sign language interpreting. Evidence of post-secondary teaching experience or delivery of professional training is highly preferred. 

Experience delivering content via online modalities is preferred. Candidates must be able to conduct their assigned courses of instruction in the best manner possible to achieve student learning, which includes the presentation of ideas in ways that are appropriate for a variety of learners and that show sensitivity to a diverse student population. Successful candidates will display a commitment and capacity for teaching excellence, student mentorship and collaborative work.
