Senior Engineer / Engineer ll & l - R&D Medical Devices & Diagnostics
1. Senior Engineer
Job Characteristics Information
- Fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter, functional area, and assignments
- Primarily hands-on worker, with instruction or supervision of others secondary to own technical work
- Recognized as a leader within the team
- Manages and/or coordinates programs within the function
Illustrative Activities/Responsibilities
- Uses expertise to improve operational efficiencies and meet compliance requirements
- Compiles and analyzes data, identifies causes, draws conclusions, generates reports
- Manages processes and ensures that activity goals are achieved
- May act as team leader and/or mentor junior professionals
- Develops a plan of execution using his/her knowledge and ability to derive unique solutions and approaches, which are cost effective and contribute to the success of the project
Typical or Expected Qualifications
- Typically requires 5 – 7 years of experience with BS or equivalent, 3 - 5 years with MS or Ph.D. with 0 - 2 years of experience.
2. Engineer ll
Job Characteristics Information
- Specialized knowledge level
- Requires a basic understanding and application of theoretical or scientific discipline – including the underlying principles involved, as opposed to practices (e.g. chemistry)
- Positions at this level are individual contributors and team members
Illustrative Activities/Responsibilities
- May develop procedures and processes within broader protocols
- Conducts or manages research, analysis or processes within a larger R&D activity
- May develop and implement standards for reporting and operations
- Ensures completion of activities within compliance and on-time
- May identity and implement process level efficiencies
Typical or Expected Qualifications
- Typically requires 3 – 5 years of experience with BS or equivalent, 0-2 years with an MS degree.
3. Engineer l
Job Characteristics Information
- Basic knowledge in a specialized area that requires a grasp of involved practices and precedents
- Focus is on coordination of project/process management and reporting
- Primarily hands-on worker, with instruction or supervision of others secondary to own technical work
Illustrative Activities/Responsibilities
- Uses analytical/technical expertise to contribute to product development/testing
- Ensures that project guidelines are followed and processes are complete
- May coordinate with outside vendors or regulatory officials
- May oversee reporting or regulatory processes or parts of processes
- May be responsible for project or process reporting and tracking
Typical or Expected Qualifications
- Typically requires 0-2 years of experience with BS degree or equivalent
